Enjoy Free Live Music at Annual Songwriters Festival
It’s time to celebrate the Smoky Mountains’ Appalachian musical roots! The 6th annual Songwriters Festival will take place August 16th-20th, 2017. The festival is a great opportunity for songwriters to perform original songs along with giving the back story and be discovered by publishers, producers, and music lovers.
Over 125 free live shows will be enjoyed during the festival with a competition on Saturday at the Edgewater Hotel. Cash prizes are awarded to winners of the song competition. Ticketed shows include Con Hunley, Sylvia, Jim Glaser, and Tony Arata. Con Hunley is a singer/songwriter and had 20 hits on the country charts from the 70’s and 80’s. He will be performing Saturday, August 19th at 8pm at the Glenstone Lodge. Sylvia is another 80’s artist who will be performing Saturday at 4pm, sharing her first album in 14 years.
Bring your own instrument and get inspired! Open jam spots are available for all musicians. This four-day event is free and open to the public. Luxury accommodations are available at nearby Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge cabin rentals to enjoy the entire festival.
There is fun to be had all year in the Smoky Mountains. The Sugarlands Mountainfest will be September 28th-October 1st. This 4 day music and outdoor festival will feature over 30 performances, competitions, and spirits & brews. October 7th-8th is the 18th Annual Trout Tournament, an exciting yearly event for fisherman and friends of the Smokies. Whether you come for a special event, a quick getaway, or a relaxing retreat, every season is beautiful in the Smokies and we guarantee you’ll make memories to last a lifetime.
